Features |
Bluel Finder is a streamlined utility similar to Windows Explorer, but adding some convenient features for people who regularly navigate complex directory trees:
-
Instant Bookmarks: If you hold down the TAB key, a floating window appears with 10 "slots" for saved folder locations. Left-clicking on a slot takes you to that directory, right-clicking saves the current directory.
-
Quick History: If you right-click on the folder tree (the left pane), a history list appears. Unlike the Windows Explorer "back" button, the folders are displayed with full path. This matters when two or more folders have the same name.
-
Copy Path: If you select a file and press CTRL+E, the file's full path will be copied to the clipboard. This is very useful with "Open..." and "Save As..." dialogs that always seem to start in the wrong directory. If use CTRL+E on a special folder (e.g. "My Documents"), it will copy the real path rather than the useless special name.
-
Global Views : The view mode (e.g. "Details", "Thumbnails", etc.) applies instantly to every folder, whereas Windows Explorer by default tracks this setting separately for each folder you view.
-
Windows Shell Support: Unlike many other "file manager" utilities, Bluel Finder can interoperate with Windows Explorer via copy+paste or drag+drop. It also supports the shell icon overlays as used by TortoiseCVS and TortoiseSVN.
